About Me
My name is Fernando Saldivia Yáñez (b.1997). I am a filmmaker currently based between Puerto Williams, Chile, and Chicago, United States.
My practice focuses on using poetic documentary films to portray individuals, communities, and traditions facing a context of climate change, industrialization, and neoliberal policies.
My work has been screened at multiple festivals and venues including the Ann Arbor Film Festival, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, the Santiago International Film Festival, and the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art.
My latest feature film, Brief Space of a Time, was recently awarded the Audience Award at the 62 Ann Arbor Film Festival.
