Encounter at the Winter's Door - Nonfiction/Digital/Short Film
The filmmaker and a roaming horse share a brief, silent encounter on a Patagonian winter night. As the wind whispers through empty streets, Encounter at the Winter's Door captures an ephemeral memory tied to land, solitude, and peace.
Director's Statement
Encounter at the Winter's Door is a meditation on the fleeting, dreamlike encounters that shape life in my hometown of Puerto Williams, Chile, the southernmost town in the world. A highly isolated and non-industrialized region, Puerto Williams allows for intimate and peaceful coexistence with others. This quality has always informed my artistic practice, teaching me to understand animals, the wind, and the environment in general as part of my own identity. In Encounter at the Winter's Door, I seek to capture the exchanges that arise when I see the world through a lens of quiet and shared presence; As I see the other, I see myself.
Made in Puerto Williams, Chile.
